FG Makes U-turn, Gives NLC Permission To Use Eagle Square

Forty-Eight hours after it revoked the permission granted to the organised labour from using Eagle Square for the 2023 May Day, otherwise known as workers day, the Federal Government has granted the union the permission to use the venue.

Revalidation of the use of Eagle Square Abuja by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for the annual May Day parade in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, May 1 was announced by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, via a statement signed by Olajide Oshundun,

Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The Minister urged all invited guests including the President, Vice President, Ministers, diplomatic missions and international partners, to endeavour to be at the venue, which remains sacrosanct.

Tinubu Joins Buhari In Aso Rock for Jum’aat Prayers

The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, joined President Muhammadu at the State House Mosque, Abuja, to observe the Jum’aat prayers.

He was accompanied by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and his retinue of personal and security aides.

Zenith Bank’s Quarterly Profit Hits N66 Billion

Nigeria’s second-largest private lender, Zenith Bank, grew its profit for the first three months of this year by double digits to N66 billion, according to its earnings report issued on Friday.

Fire Guts Residence In Ooni’s Palace

On Friday night, an apartment structure within the palace courtyard of Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, went up in flames.

Channels Television gathered that an electrical appliance explosion caused by a power surge in the apartment set off the incident around 11:30 p.m.

The incident was confirmed on Saturday in a statement by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Moses Olafare.
