The former lawmaker, who spoke during an interview on Arise Television, hinted that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is trying to impose candidates on members of the National Assembly like he has been doing in Lagos State. He reacted to the zoning arrangement, which was adopted from Tinubu’s template by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.

Reports had earlier revealed how the NWC of the APC named Senator Godswill Akpabio and Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, as the consensus candidates for the seats of the Senate President and Speaker respectively. The zoning arrangement was made after rumours had earlier suggested that Tinubu has his eyes on Akpabio and Abbas as Senate President and Speaker respectively. The NWC urged members of the party to back the APC bigwigs for the positions.

Chika, who reacted to this, insisted that the APC and Tinubu were out of place to make the recommendations. According to him, the leadership of the Upper and Lower Chambers of the National Assembly should be decided by lawmakers and not the party and the President-elect.
