During a stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi, the Benue State APC chairman, Austin Agada, announced that the party had suspended former Minister of Works Barnabas Gemade, Terhemba Shija, and some ward officials for anti-party activities. Mr Agada accused them of working against the party during the 2023 general elections, alleging that they took the party to court and worked against it to ensure it lost at the polls. Both Mr Gemade and Mr Shija were governorship aspirants during the last primary election that produced Hyacinth Alia as the state governorship candidate.

According to Mr Agada, “Gemade lost his polling unit, ward, and local government area to the opposition, and Shija colluded with the PDP against the party.”Continue Reading>>>

According to Mr Agada, Shija is currently in court and is collaborating with the PDP to overturn Alia’s victory in the last general election at the tribunal.

He also stated that the party has referred the matter to the APC fact-finding committee to provide reasons why Gemade, Shija, and the ward officials should not be expelled from the party for their alleged anti-party activities during the elections.
