Arsenal want to sign two midfielders, including the £100m-rated Declan Rice. Caicedo is the second on their list of targets.

Brighton are bracing themselves for interest in several of their players this summer. Alexis Mac Allister is also heavily linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

Recruiting in midfield will be on the agenda for Roberto De Zerbi if he does lose players in that position. French outlet RMC Sport claims Lopez is a target.

Brighton are said to have made an offer to Sassuolo in January for the 25-year-old, which was rejected. They are still keen on signing the player, who would cost between £13m and £17m, but face competition from Sevilla, Lazio and Napoli.

De Zerbi was the manager of Sassuolo when they signed Lopez in 2020, initially on loan before making the move permanent the following April. Like Caicedo, he is a defensive-minded central midfielder who has scored just nine career goals to date at senior level.
