The purpose of the call, it was revealed after it was made, was to underline the United States of America Mission in Nigeria’s continuous commitment to further solidifying the U.S.-Nigeria partnership with the incoming administration.

However, when responding to what the United States of America did by publishing details of the call with Tinubu, Mr. Daniel Bwala, who also serves as the official spokesperson for the People’s Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 presidential election, stated that the call’s details were published for the sake of accountability.Continue Reading>>>

According to him, the US Mission in Nigeria revealed the call information because they were aware that some politicians in the nation would fabricate parts of the conversation and/or state things that were not covered in the call.

When writing on his handle, he said, “US Mission to Nigeria had to publish the record of the call made to Asiwaju for accountability sake, to avoid those who want to make lies a statecraft from amplifying what never occurred in the conversation. Notice they pinned the visa restrictions notice on their twitter handle.”
