The clergyman, who spoke through his lawyer, Dr Abdul Mahmud, said the actress should subject the purported claims against him to judicial scrutiny by filing a defence to a N1 billion damages suit filed against her.

Apapa Accuses Abure Of Fraud

The Lamidi Apapa-led Labour Party has accused the suspended National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure of misappropriating billions of naira meant for party activities.

This was featured in a press conference held by the faction on Thursday, which accused Abure of diverting $150 million belonging to the party to acquire opulent residences in Abuja with his family.

Buhari: Nigeria Targeting 30GW of Electricity By 2030

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that Nigeria is targeting 30GW electricity by the year 2030.

Speaking Thursday while inaugurating virtually the Kashimbila Multipurpose Dam, 40MW Hydropower Station and Associated 132KV Switchyard, Transmission Line and Distribution Substation (Phase I) Project, located at the Kashimbila Dam site in Taraba State at the Council Chamber, State House, Abuja, the President underscored the importance of the project, highlighting its role in his government’s commitment to achieving the target of 30GW of electricity in the country by 2030, under the Electricity Vision 30:30:30.

President Buhari, while inviting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello, to unveil the project on his behalf, noted that the Electricity Vision initiative aims to have renewable energy contribute at least 30% to the energy mix, thereby expediting the expansion of electricity access.

EFCC Probes Zamfara Gov, Matawalle Over ‘N70bn Fraud’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says the outgoing Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle is under investigation for alleged N70bn fraud.

The Commission, in a statement on Thursday, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) powerbroker is being investigated over allegation of monumental corruption, award of phantom contracts and diversion of over N70billion.

“The money which was sourced as loan from an old generation bank purportedly for the execution of projects across the local government areas of the state, was allegedly diverted by the governor through proxies and contractors who received payment for contracts that were not executed,” the statement partly read in part.

“The Commission’s investigations so far reveal that more than 100 companies have received payments from the funds, with no evidence of service rendered to the state.”

Tambuwal Immortalises Shagari, Sultans Sa’ad, Dasuki, Danfodiyo, Malami

Governor Aminu Tambuwal has renamed the Sokoto State University after Sheikh Abdullahi Fodiyo, younger brother to the founder of Sokoto Caliphate, Sheikh Usmanu Danfodiyo.

The Sokoto State University of Education was named after late President Shehu Shagari while the Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital under construction was named after Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.

The governor also immortalised the late Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki and Sarkin Sudan Wurno and former Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Shehu Malami by renaming Shehu Shagari College of Education and College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Wurno after them.

Also, the College of Legal and Islamic Studies, Wamakko was renamed Sheikh Haliru Binji College of Legal and Islamic Studies while the College of Nursing, Tambuwal was renamed after Balaraba Buda.
