According to a report published by the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper Online, the crisis that has been trailing the All Progressives Congress’ National Working Committee (NWC) zoning template for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly took a dramatic turn at the weekend, as the G6, which happens to be the coalition of aggrieved candidates for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, reportedly rebuffed overtures from emissaries.

It was stated that a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress had been asked to meet with the hopefuls, and that he would be joined by another party chieftain from the South-West geographical zone. The team was expected to meet with the trio of Senators Abdul Aziz Yari, Senator Orji Kalu, and Senator Sani Musa, who are running for the Senate presidency and hoping to unseat Senator Godswill Akpabio, according to reports that a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress had been instructed to meet with the candidates. He was to be joined by another party chieftain from the South-West geopolitical zone. Continue Reading>>>>

A source close to the G-6 who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune in confidence and under the condition of anonymity, the G-6 was unhappy that the president-elect was sending emissaries to them, despite assurances from his associates and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress that he (Tinubu) would meet with the aggrieved aspirants upon his return to the country.

“G6 are angry that Tinubu is sending them people from a specific part of the country, and they are adamant on meeting with Tinubu and the party’s leadership,” the source said. The leadership of the National Assembly is a national matter, not a matter of geopolitical interest in the South-West. The leadership of the National Assembly is a national matter, not just about the interests of the South-West geographical zone. Our leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, appears to still defer to Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, who continues to convince him that our movement is a little tempest in a tea cup.”
