Peter Obi should be concerned even though the Supreme Court stated that it needed to see the records of BVAS-Liborous Oshoma

Oshoma has highlighted Peter Obi’s history of utilizing the judiciary to remove governors from office, which raises concerns. Nonetheless, Oshoma emphasizes that the established protocol for the inauguration of the winner of the 2023 election must be followed. He points out that the Nigerian constitution does not provide provisions for resolving court cases before the inauguration ceremony.

We have witnessed cases where even sworn-in governors have been ousted from office. This is not the first time we have encountered such a case since the return of democracy. It has even prompted amendments to the electoral act, reducing the time for litigation in election petitions and pre-election petition matters. The case of Peter Obi and Ngige took almost three years before a verdict was delivered. Therefore, it is not a requirement in our legal system that an election petition must be settled before swearing-in.”
