Reactions to Festus Keyamo’s statement to the FG that the position of “minister of state” is redundant

The Federal Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has recently told the Federal government of Nigeria that the position of the minister of state is an aberration and that it is unconstitutional. It is no longer news that the present administration, under which Festus Keyamo is serving as a Federal minister of state, will be ending its tenure on the 29th of May 2023 when power is handed over to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Following Festus Keyamo’s argument about the insignificance of the same position he is currently serving, some social media users have knocked the Government official for just speaking up when the tenure of the administration is almost over.

One of the social media users said: “But you collected all the salaries of a Minister of State and enjoyed all the privileges. Return all of them before we take you seriously.” Continue Reading>>>>

Another social media user said: “Now that his tenure is over as a Minister of State, he now wants the position scrapped bcos it is a constitutional aberration. How come he functions in that state of constitutional aberration for years?”
