Femi Falana Reveals That Those Who Received Certificates From INEC Will Be Sworn In On May 29th

Falana further stated that this is the law that governs the current electoral regime.

 

 

He allegedly that the petition filed against their victory cannot stop their inauguration into office and the law provide a period of one hundred and eighty days for hearing and determination of their cases. Continue Reading>>>>

 

The lawyer added that the inauguration of those who won their election will take place by May 29th and the proceedings for their cases in court will continue while they assume their various duties as elected.

 

He said, “Under the current electoral regime, all those who have been cleared by the INEC and given their Certificate of Return shall be sworn in on the 29th of May. That is the law. The petition against many of them would be determined within the period of 180 days, if there are appeals arising from the judgement of the Tribunal or the Court of Appeal, they shall be determined within 60 days.”

Falana’s statement comes amidst growing concerns about stopping the Inauguration of those who won election amidst court case.
