Speaking in Abuja at a party organized in his honour by the board of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) as reported by The Cable, the outgoing minister of information and culture said a station would abuse the government for a whole year but, nothing would be done to such station.Continue Reading>>>

 

He said whenever they decide to impose fines on the stations for their misconduct, human rights agencies would come up to ask that he should be removed from office as information minister.

He said despite the attack on his government by some media houses, Muhammadu Buhari never at any point in time ordered him to shut down any station.

 

Lai Mohammed said “A station would abuse the government for a whole year but nobody would raise a finger. But, if you try to impose a fine or shut the station down, the whole human rights family would say fire Lai Mohammed. I’ve never seen a president as tolerant as Muhammadu Buhari, I must give credit to him. He never said minister of information and culture, go and close this station even though they are abusing him. I was surprised in the cabinet when the president (Buhari) said “I know they call me baba go slow”. He became so democratized that he was being blamed.”
